MedAxiom Executives Selected for 32nd ABA Annual Convention — May 26-30, 2006

NEPTUNE BECH, Fla. – December 17, 2005 – MedAxiom has been selected as a symposium presenter during the Association for Behavior Analysis’ 32nd annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia on May 29th from 9:00 am to 10:20 am. MedAxiom was selected from over hundreds of applicants for the coveted positions. The ABA is the primary professional organization for behavior analysts, dedicated to research, education, and the practice of behavior analysis.

Joe Sasson, Ph.D., Doug LaFleur, Ph.D. and Karolyn Smalley, M.A. will present their findings on “Applying Systems Analysis, Process Improvement, and Behavioral Technology to Improve Performance in Healthcare Settings.” The symposium will be an exciting and informative series of presentations with commentary by  Dr. Dale Brethower, a Professor Emeritus of Western Michigan University.

“We’re excited to share our learnings with our peers which will include 3,800 behavior analysts from around the world,” says Doug LaFleur, Executive Vice President of the Practice Development Lab for MedAxiom. “The science of behavior analysis and process improvement in the medical field will be key to maintaining lower healthcare costs across all fields of medicine. We’ve been studying and consulting in this area for years and are making tremendous strides. It isn’t always apparent to the end consumer but will become more apparent as the insurance industry and government continue to tighten constraints and payments for medical treatment.”

Doug LaFleur’s background includes a Ph.D. in applied behavior analysis, a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology and a master’s in business administration. Doug’s expertise is in improving performance at the organizational (strategic), process and individual levels, using the concepts and principles of applied behavior analysis. He recently had a paper accepted for publication in the January 2005 issue of Performance Improvement Quarterly addressing process improvement in nuclear-cardiology departments.

Karolyn Smalley has extensive experience in implementing change within organizations to achieve the desired results. In addition, she has successfully developed, mentored and coached individuals at all levels of the organization. Karolyn has an M.A. degree in industrial/organizational psychology from Western Michigan University.

Joe Sasson’s background includes a Ph.D. in behavioral science and a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology. His expertise lies in improving organization, process and human performance in corporations. Joe has been a performance-improvement consultant in a number of industries as both an internal and external consultant. He has also taught at three universities and continues to remain on the faculty at two of them as an adjunct professor.
