MedAxiom Appoints Jim Palazzo as Executive Vice President
Company hires cardiology industry leader to join executive leadership team
NEPTUNE BECH, Fla. May 16. 2006 MedAxiom announced the appointment of Jim Palazzo, MBA, to the role of Executive Vice President. Palazzo, a veteran practice administrator and cardiology industry leader, will be responsible for overseeing the continued development and implementation of MedAxiom’s Quality Initiative that incorporates many of MedAxiom’s existing offerings while expanding the clinical benchmarking component. He will also work as part of MedAxiom Consulting to aid in the expansion of services to include hospital management contracting and joint venture development. Lastly, Palazzo will take the lead in the launch of the MedAxiom Leadership Institute, a program designed for the administrative and physician leadership team within a cardiology practice.
Palazzo most recently served as CEO of Iowa Heart Center, a 58-physician practice with 49 cardiologists, six cardiac surgeons, and three vascular surgeons, and Administrator of Iowa Heart Hospital, under a hospital management contract. Palazzo also serves as Chairman of the Board for the Cardiology Advocacy Alliance (CAA) a national grassroots and legislative advocacy group serving the cardiology industry. Previously, Palazzo served as Administrator for Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists and as President for the Virginia region of the MGMA.
“We are extremely pleased to have Jim join us at MedAxiom. Jim has an outstanding reputation in cardiology practice management,” says Pat White, President of MedAxiom. “While leading Iowa Heart, one of the largest and most successful cardiovascular programs in the country, Jim earned the deep respect and admiration of his peers. Jim has been very well known for his work in advocacy over the years. He provided the leadership that resulted in the development of the Cardiology Advocacy Alliance and has been the key to its success. Jim brings extensive experience, a wealth of knowledge and a high level of integrity. We look forward to his contributions.”
“I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved in healthcare and in particular practice administration and business leadership. I am excited to bring my experiences and skills to MedAxiom. As the leading private network of cardiology administrators, MedAxiom is in a unique position to expand its offerings and facilitate change within the cardiology field,” said Palazzo. “MedAxiom truly has engaged their membership and gained their trust through providing valuable information, a platform for peer-to-peer networking, and experience no one else can offer.”
Palazzo’s first day will be June 1. Jennifer Linville, CEO of MedAxiom, and Doug LaFleur, COO and head of MedAxiom Consulting, will work closely with Palazzo to involve him in the business as quickly as possibly and make his contribution felt immediately. Palazzo earned his undergraduate and MBA from Brigham Young University with emphasis on health care administration. He is also a Certified medical Practice Executive (CMPE).
