MedAxiom Quality Initiative (MQI) Defines Steps Toward Quality

Cardiology Group Sets Out to Drive Quality Healthcare Measures

NEPTUNE BECH, Fla. – June 16, 2006 – MedAxiom has just launched the development of the “MedAxiom Quality Initiative” (MQI) to take a proactive approach in optimizing practices in small steps, not simply overnight. Today, what differentiates a high quality practice from others are the processes they have in place such as satisfaction surveys, participating in departmental quality initiatives such as ICANL / ICAVL / ICAEL certification, Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation, and other best practice strategies.

A portion of the MedAxiom product and service lines already assist practices in achieving success by measuring satisfaction, attaining departmental certifications, using disease management and regimen adherence programs, clinical quality assurance programs, clinical benchmarking, benchmarking at discrete units of analysis, implementing current technologies such as EHR, the use of evidence-based medicine, streamlining and optimizing operations, and making the necessary cultural and behavioral changes that are essential to the long-term success of each of these initiatives.

MedAxiom’s vision is for each member practice to accomplish business and clinical improvements in small steps in order to succeed at becoming optimized and efficient – ultimately improving the quality of care and increasing patient access.  As many practices are already doing these things, the MQI will serve as a way to recognize and acknowledge their efforts and achievements in a formalized fashion.  In addition to the recognition, a website will be developed to inform consumers what each of these steps means, and how it impacts the quality of the care they receive.  Click here to see the graph depicting the “Steps Toward Quality.”

“We are defining what the certification process looks like and how we can best implement this program from an operational standpoint,” says Jim Palazzo, Executive Vice President for MedAxiom. “We already have great interest in this program from both our members and industry and will begin a clinical benchmarking pilot program in the fall. We see our members taking a tremendous lead in their respective markets and within the private practice field as a result of this program.”
