New Video and Case Study Detail Workflow and Connectivity Improvements at Butler Health System

Neptune Beach, FL—MedAxiom, the nation’s leading cardiovascular health care membership and performance community, is pleased to announce the release of a new video highlighting the results of a case study with corporate partner ScImage and Butler Health System.  The video features Thomas W. Raraigh, Director of Cardiology & Imaging Services at Butler Health System (BHS), discussing improved report turnaround times, costs and overall efficiencies that resulted after a major cardiology PACS upgrade with ScImage in 2013. The upgrade gave BHS the ability to launch cardiac PACS within Butler’s EMR, providing full diagnostic viewing and reporting capability from any facility at any time for seamless workflow during patient imaging communication.

We have been able to improve workflow and efficiency, not just for our cardiologists, but for our entire staff and for our patients,” said Raraigh. “With the ability to get diagnostic testing done faster and generate reports more efficiently, we can treat and discharge patients faster and more cost-effectively.

Details of the partnership between ScImage and BHS were also included in a recently released case study. The case study summarizes improvements at BHS over a 3-year period including:

  • Faster clinical decisions
  • Improved workflow
  • Reduction in length of stay for inpatients by enabling cardiac diagnostic testing interpretations 24/7
  • Providing services in remote locations along with quality and timely reporting for studies performed at any facility
  • Ability to upload and interpret diagnostic cardiovascular studies on patients performed at other facilitthe ies
  • Launching the PACS from anywhere and complete interpretations at any time, including STAT studies
  • Providing services to remote sites without the expense and difficulty of setting up multiple cardiology PACS systems at each location

MedAxiom, which provides membership services, industry data analytics and insight, educational conferences and consulting help to cardiovascular health care programs and practices, produced the ScImage and BHS video to share with its membership of 370+ CV organizations. The video was hosted by Ryan Graver, President of MedAxiom Ventures, a division of MedAxiom.

The partnership between ScImage and Butler Health demonstrates how industry and providers can work together to succeed in the rapidly-evolving health care landscape. Creating more efficient and effective technologies and processes is essential to meet the new payment model requirements and achieve truly valued-based health care, said Graver.
