February 15, 2017-- As we expected when the new Administration issued its January 20 memo temporarily freezing new regulations, CMS issued a rule delaying the effective date of the cardiac-related EPMs (and the new ortho EPM) from February 18, 2017 to March 21, 2017.  However, the first performance year remains scheduled to begin on July 1, 2017.

Please keep in mind that this delay in the rule's effective date is designed to give the new Administration time to review the rule.  It is possible that, upon reviewing the rule, Secretary Price will allow the rule to become effective, further delay the rule, seek time to amend it, or withdraw it completely. We will keep you posted.
