Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) opened the application period for the second cohort of Bundled Payment for Care Improvement (BPCI) Advanced, with an application deadline of June 24, 2019. This is the last planned open window for applications for the voluntary program. BPCI Advanced is the next generation of the original BPCI initiative created by Medicare, and a further progression of the value-based healthcare movement. Like other bundled payment programs, BPCI Advanced rewards clinicians for improving outcomes and lowering costs. While much of Cohort 2 will mirror the first round of BPCI Advanced, CMS has already made some adjustments for the next group, including four new inpatient bundles:
- Bariatric Surgery
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
MedAxiom and Archway Health, a BPCI Advanced convener and MedAxiom Industry Partner, are holding a series of webinars to help educate and prepare members who are considering participating in BPCI Advanced. See details for the webinars below.
