The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released their proposed list of Medicare covered procedures for 2020, which includes both cardiac diagnostic and treatment procedures in the ASC setting. CMS proposes to add six coronary intervention procedures (3 procedures and respective add-on procedures) to the ASC list of covered surgical procedures.

If these proposed procedures are enacted, it will enable even more patients to be treated in a safe, convenient and cost-effective outpatient setting. There are still several administrative hurdles to overcome before these codes are officially enacted, including a public comment period.
