February is Heart Month – a country wide initiative that promotes heart-healthy lifestyles. Just in time for the rally to promote health-positive resources for our community, U.S. News & World Report recently released their annual list of top heart-healthy diets. We are proud to share that Ornish LifeStyle Medicine, a long time MedAxiom Industry Partner, ranked number one for having the best heart-healthy diet program of 2020 and ninth for the best diet overall. This is the first time in a decade that the Mediterranean Diet shifted from the top heart-healthy diet to number two on the list.
The Ornish diet, created in 1977 by Dr. Dean Ornish, is part of the first and only program scientifically proven to reverse the progression of heart disease. The program limits bad carbohydrates and categorizes food into five groups: group one is the healthiest and group five is the least healthy. The diet allows followers to be flexible depending on their individual health goals, i.e., lower blood pressure, reverse heart disease, etc. Experts say the Ornish diet is “nutritionally sound, safe and heart-healthy.”
MedAxiom is thrilled to partner with the best organizations in the industry in an effort to improve cardiovascular healthcare for all.
