Cathleen C. Gates Selected as ACC's New CEO

Cathleen C. Gates has been selected as ACC's new CEO, effective immediately. Gates has served as interim CEO of the College since April. Jerry Blackwell, MD, MBA, FACC, will remain the president and CEO of MedAxiom, an ACC Company.

CMS Approves Telehealth Cardiac Rehab During COVID-19 Pandemic

Responding to a key recommendation made by the ACC and other stakeholders, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services used emergency rulemaking authority to add cardiac rehabilitation (rehab) and intensive cardiac rehab services to the list of approved telehealth services outside the annual rulemaking process.

CMS Releases Proposed 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and Hospital Outpatient Rules

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on Aug. 3 released the proposed 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, addressing Medicare payment and quality provisions for physicians in 2021. Under the proposal, physicians will see a reduced conversion factor from $36.09 to $32.26, effective Jan. 1, 2021.
