Webinar Recording: MIPS Tips for Success - Preparing for Episodic Payments

Update from CMS: May 20, 2021

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that the 2020 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Cost Performance Category will be reweighted from 15% to 0% of the final score even if eligible physicians or groups submitted 2020 data in other MIPS categories. The 15% Cost Performance Category weight will be redistributed to other performance categories. Clinicians do not need to take any action as a result of this decision because the cost performance category relies on administrative claims data.

The Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) has taken a back seat in many practices – not only due to COVID, but also related to the perception that physicians have no control over the results, especially in a multi-specialty group.

This webinar will review well-known MIPS categories – Quality and Interoperability; identifying critical changes in reporting improvement activities, ensuring you have the correct supporting data to survive an audit; and explore the Cost category. Experts cover the first two elements of Cost (MSPB and TPCC), how they are calculated and what you can do to impact the measures. This presentation also provides a deep dive into the episodes. Will the 18 current episodes (and the five new field tested episodes) be the harbinger for mandatory bundles in 2024 once the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced model expires? Tune in to learn the best way to interpret these reports and prepare for episodic payments.
