Meghan Emig, MPAS, PA-C
Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, Charlotte, NC
In anticipation of Meghan Emig’s presentation on HF Clinic Development and Success Story with Dr. Sanjeev Gulati at the CV Transforum Spring’16 conference. On Thursday, April 7th, we sat down with Meghan to learn more about her and her work. She and Dr. Gulati are from Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute in Charlotte.
1. What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
I enjoy the ability to offer specialty services and a multi-disciplinary team to support our heart failure patients. They typically do not have access to such services. We can connect them to the resources they need and help them better understand their disease to improve self-management.
2. If you could choose any job outside of health care, what would it be?
I love working with children and enjoy using my creative side, so I would be a kindergarten teacher.
3. What are the biggest challenges facing cardiovascular health care today?
The biggest challenge is decreasing reimbursement to manage patients with chronic disease.
4. What is your favorite weekend/leisure activity?
I like spending time with my family and I love to bake.
5. Where do you hope to go on your next vacation and why?
I love the beach, where I can relax and really disconnect. The sound of the waves inspire instant relaxation.
6. What books are you currently reading or wanting to read?
I am reading an employee engagement book.
7. The name of the last movie or live performance you saw . . . thumbs up or down?
I saw a steel drum band in Jamaica and give it a thumbs up.
8. What are you most looking forward to at the CV Transforum Spring’16 Conference?
I’m looking forward to networking with others who do what we do.
