2027 CPT Coding and MPFS Final Rule Updates: Implications for CV Services

Monday, December 14, 1 - 2:30 p.m. ET

This webinar will provide an update on the changes to 2027 CPT coding and Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) final rule impacting cardiovascular services, taking effect on Jan. 1, 2027. Designed for physicians, coding professionals, revenue cycle teams and operational leaders, the session highlights new, revised and deleted codes, as well as key payment policy changes across cardiovascular procedures, diagnostics and emerging technologies. MedAxiom’s Revenue Cycle Services experts will also provide practical guidance to support accurate coding, compliance and a successful transition into the new year.

Objectives:

  • Identify new, revised and deleted 2027 CPT codes relevant to cardiovascular services.
  • Describe key 2027 MPFS final rule payment policy changes and their reimbursement impact.
  • Recognize documentation and compliance considerations for structural heart, cardiac device and remote monitoring services.
  • Apply practical strategies to mitigate coding, compliance and revenue risk for a successful transition starting Jan. 1, 2027

Did We Document It? E/M, MDM, G2211 and Modifier 25 in CV Care

Tuesday, December 15 1 - 2:30 p.m. ET

Accurate evaluation and management (E/M) coding starts with documentation that clearly reflects the complexity of cardiovascular care. Through practical cardiovascular scenarios, this session will examine the documentation behind medical decision-making (MDM), E/M level selection, G2211, modifier 25, time-based services, same-day procedures and diagnostic testing. Participants will work through common areas of physician-coder confusion, including chronic disease management, independent interpretation of test results, prescription drug management, decisions regarding procedures, and distinguishing a separately identifiable E/M service from work inherent in another service. Geared toward coders, auditors, compliance teams and revenue cycle teams, this webinar will connect documentation practices to coding accuracy, compliance, revenue integrity and physician workflow efficiency.

Objectives:

  • Apply E/M and MDM requirements to common cardiovascular encounters.
  • Strengthen documentation to clearly support the complexity and medical necessity of care provided.
  • Identify appropriate use of G2211 and modifier 25 in CV practice.
  • Differentiate separately reportable E/M work from diagnostic and procedural services.
  • Recognize documentation gaps that contribute to coding variation, denials, compliance risk and lost revenue.

Structural Heart 2027: Navigating New TAVR Coverage, Coding and Program Requirements

Wednesday, December 16, 1- 2:30 p.m. ET

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services newly finalized TAVR coverage policy creates potential changes for structural heart (SH) programs heading into 2027. This session will translate the new Medicare requirements into practical considerations for physicians, program leaders and revenue cycle teams. Participants will explore changes to TAVR coverage, heart team evaluation, operator and facility requirements, as well as coding, documentation and financial considerations throughout the SH patient journey. The session will also identify opportunities to align clinical workflows, documentation, revenue integrity and quality oversight within the new coverage framework.

Objectives:

  • Interpret key Medicare TAVR coverage changes and their impact on SH programs.
  • Optimize operational workflows across evaluation, heart team decision-making, procedures and follow-up.
  • Strengthen coding, documentation and billing practices to support compliant reimbursement and financial performance.
  • Align quality oversight and outcomes monitoring with evolving program requirements.
  • Identify financial and revenue integrity opportunities across the SH patient journey.

CV Procedures in the ASC: Coding, Billing and Reimbursement for Cath, PCI, Vascular, EP and Device Services

Thursday, December 17, 1 - 2:30 p.m. ET

As cardiovascular procedures continue to expand in the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) setting, coding and revenue cycle teams must understand the unique billing and reimbursement requirements associated with these services. This session provides coders, revenue cycle teams, physicians, cath/electrophysiology (EP) lab staff, ASC billing teams and leaders a cardiovascular-specific review of procedures performed in ASCs, with an emphasis on accurate coding, documentation, bundling, modifier use and payment considerations. Using practical examples, participants will examine differences between professional and ASC billing, identify separately reportable versus bundled services, and address common reimbursement and claim challenges for cardiovascular procedures in the ASC.

Objectives:

  • Apply coding and billing requirements for procedures performed in the ASC.
  • Identify bundled and separately reportable services, including appropriate modifier use.
  • Understand Medicare ASC payment and reimbursement considerations for cardiovascular and EP services.
  • Recognize documentation and claim issues that may affect reimbursement, denials and revenue integrity.
