With 19 years of healthcare experience, 11 of which were spent as a coder, she has grown through roles of increasing responsibility from certified medical assistant to medical office coordinator of specialty care clinics. Serving in a specialty clinic allowed her to later implement policies, procedures and systems for proper coding and quality assurance. She was also responsible for training and educating the staff team. In addition to working in edits and denials, her coding career has focused on secondary validation audits, hierarchical condition category, diagnostics and procedures.
Erica holds multiple certifications including Medical Assistant Certification from Maric College, Medical Coding and Billing Certification from Towson University, and Professional Coder Certification from the AAPC.
