Academic Partner for Healthcare Management Research
Guy David, PhD, a nationally recognized health economist and thought leader, is an Academic Partner for Healthcare Management Research at MedAxiom. He is the Alan B. Miller Professor of Health Care Management at the Wharton School and a Professor of Health Policy and Medical Ethics at the Perelman School of Medicine. David pays attention to aspects of the healthcare system that are understudied, just emerging or difficult to measure. His research on nonprofit hospitals, hospitalists, emergency medical services, home healthcare, primary care, patient-centered medical homes, retainer-based medicine, ambulatory surgery centers, data-driven disease management and medical technology disadoption has yielded insight into how individuals, firms and regulators interact across the continuum of care.
Through his role at MedAxiom, David brings valuable insights drawn from his extensive research, teaching and leadership in healthcare management, further strengthening MedAxiom’s commitment to helping cardiovascular organizations achieve clinical and operational excellence.
David is the former Chair of the Health Care Management Department and the former Director of the Doctoral Program in Health Care Management and Economics at the Wharton School, where he teaches undergraduate, MBA, WEMBA and PhD courses, as well as executive education programs, mostly around physician leadership. He is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Health Economics and Management.
