CMS Releases Final List of Medicare Covered Procedures for 2020, to Include Both Cardiac Diagnostic and Treatment Procedures in the ASC Setting

National Cardiovascular Partners (NCP) is pleased to announce that on November 1^st , the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released their final list of Medicare covered procedures for 2020 — and for the first time ever — it includes both cardiac diagnostic and treatment procedures in the ASC setting.

These added codes relate to three specific percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures — including drug eluding stent placement —  which means that Medicare patients can now receive superior care in a more comfortable, safe and lower-cost, outpatient setting.

In an effort to prepare for this day, back in 2014, NCP began the process of converting our facilities to hybrid centers (ASC & Office-Based Lab). Today, we are well positioned to meet the demands created by the sure and steady migration to comprehensive, outpatient cardiovascular care.

Looking forward, NCP plans to continue our advocacy with CMS to further expand the ASC codes to include other coronary intervention procedures that can be safely performed in an ASC setting.
